Our Privacy Philosophy
Self Mosaic is designed for deep self-exploration—the kind of inner work that requires absolute trust and safety. We understand that you're sharing your most vulnerable thoughts, your hidden aspects, and your journey toward healing.
That's why we built privacy into the foundation of Self Mosaic, not as an afterthought. We don't want access to your inner world. We want you to feel safe exploring it.
What Data We Collect
Data That Stays on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your aspect profiles (names, descriptions, patterns)
- Journal entries and reflections
- Check-in history and mood data
- Practice session notes and insights
- Your inner mosaic map and relationships
- Any voice recordings or transcriptions
Data We May Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to provide and improve the app:
- Account information: Email address (if you create an account for sync)
- Anonymous usage analytics: Which features are used, crash reports, performance data
- Subscription information: Payment status (processed by App Store/Google Play, not us)
What We Never Collect
- The content of your journals, aspects, or practices
- Your location data
- Your contacts or photos
- Data from other apps on your device
How We Protect Your Data
Local-First Architecture
Self Mosaic uses a "local-first" design. This means your therapeutic data—your aspects, journals, and insights—lives on your device. We can't access it, even if we wanted to.
End-to-End Encryption (If You Sync)
If you choose to enable cloud backup or sync across devices:
- Your data is encrypted on your device before it leaves
- Only you hold the encryption key (derived from your password)
- We store encrypted blobs that we cannot decrypt
- If you lose your password, we cannot recover your data
On-Device AI Processing
When we use AI features to help with pattern recognition or insights:
- Processing happens on your device when possible
- If cloud AI is used, only the minimum necessary context is sent
- We use privacy-preserving techniques to minimize data exposure
- AI providers cannot access your full history or identify you
Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of third-party services:
- Apple/Google: For app distribution and payments
- Analytics (anonymous): To understand app usage patterns
- Crash reporting: To fix bugs and improve stability
We carefully vet all third-party services and require them to meet our privacy standards.
Your Rights
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: View all data associated with your account
- Export: Download your data in a portable format
- Delete: Permanently remove all your data
- Portability: Take your data to another service
Since most data lives on your device, you can delete the app to remove it. For any cloud-stored data, use the "Delete Account" feature in Settings.
Children's Privacy
Self Mosaic is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of Self Mosaic after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
